Description of inspiration: Edward “Gus” Guzzi, an otherworldly, consciously (as well as conscientiously) homeless, radical anarchist filmmaker, whom I rented my garage to for several years. From feeding the woodland creatures out of his weathered palms, to withstanding the political blowback from his tireless, humanist stance, he was why I began to see myself as an artist. This is the very first piece I created, under the direction and inspiration of Gus, after the manner of the Surrealists, and from the depths of my desires to write, document, perceive and experience as much of life and time that I possibly can, yet with absolute stillness in the midst of it all.
